Admissions Step-by-step

Step 1: Let’s get acquainted

Fall is a great time for us to get to know each other!

Plan to attend a 10:00 Tour and see classrooms in action. (Thurs., Sept 22, Mon., Oct 10 or Wed., Nov 9) or attend a community Parlor Meeting. Schedule a follow up Personal Tour of the school and an appointment with the Admission Director.

During a tour you can expect to...

  • Visit classrooms and see classes in progress
  • Talk to available teachers and ask questions
  • Discuss your child with the Admissions Director

Step 2: Decision to Apply

Complete your application and submit a signed Release of Records form along with $100 non-refundable application fee by the January due date. Following this date, applications will continue to be considered until the class is full. Submitting an application means...
  • That you have a desire to enroll your child at Gesher Jewish Day School
  • You are providing permission for us to request any standardized testing or academic reports to date from your child’s current school and a Confidential Teacher Recommendation
  • We will conduct a Kindergarten Readiness screening with your child for kindergarten applicants or a skills screening for applicants for other grades and/or arrange to observe your child in his current program or ours
  • We may request additional outside educational testing

Step 3: Decision to Accept

Acceptance to Gesher Jewish Day School is...
  • Determined after a complete review of your application and all supporting educational screening or testing by the Admissions Committee and the Admission Director has met with your child
  • Gesher accepts applicants whom we believe will be successful in our dual-curriculum environment and who will be supportive of the school mission
  • Acceptance is not based on ability to pay

Step 4: Enrollment

Acceptance letters and enrollment contracts are sent in March. The New Student Enrollment Deposit of $500 is applicable to the final tuition payment if received by the due date.

Step 5: Financial Aid

Financial Aid awards are confidential and needs-based. Financial Assistance applications for the 2012-2013 school year will be available in January. Questions? Contact Eunice Oyungu at (703) 962-9218 or email eoyungu@gesher-jds.org. Late applications for financial aid are considered if funds are still available.
