Funds and Endowments

An endowed gift to Gesher ensures that your commitment to Jewish education will be a lasting legacy. If you would like to support a special project through a direct donation, a planned gift, life income gift, or a different financial vehicle, please contact Rebekah Dickinson.

Mitzvah Coupons and Special Funds for Directed Giving

Donations can be made to Special Funds throughout the year to honor someone's memory or to mark a significant occasion. Mitzvah Coupons are available in the Gesher Front Office or you can download a form.

Mary Cohen Library Fund

This fund supports Gesher's Accelerated Reader program, a favorite among Gesher's elementary students.

Eliav Family Hebrew Book Library Fund

This fund promotes Hebrew literacy through the purchase of Hebrew books.

Ephrath Family Scholarship Fund

This fund provides tuition assistance for students in need. All donations of $1,000 or more to this fund will be listed on a plaque that hangs outside the Gesher office.

The Arnie Hiller Great Beginnings Fund

This fund will provide money for significant scholarships to Gesher Jewish Day School for students who would benefit greatly from an extra incentive to choose a Jewish day school education.

The Fishman Israel Trip Fund

The Fishman Israel Trip Fun was established by Vicki and Simon Fishman to help subsidize the cost of the Gesher 8th Grade Israel experience.  This fund will enable us to offset expenses that are a part of the overall trip and will also provide tuition assistance for those who might otherwise not be able to participate.

Alan Goldblatt PE Equipment Fund

The Alan Goldblatt PE Equipment Fund was created to provide additional funds to purchase equipment intended to enhance the Gesher Physical Education Program.

Suzy’s Birthday School Supplies Fund

This fund was created by Joel Goldhammer to honor the memory of Suzy Goldhammer, who was an outstanding leader in the Northern Virginia Jewish Community. Each year this fund provides students receiving financial aid assistance to purchase books and school supplies.

David Lowenstein Memorial Siddur Fund

This fund was created by Shelley Adler and Michael and Mark Loewenstein in memory of former Gesher parent David Loewenstein. Donations to this fund provide siddurim to first grade students for their special Kabbalat hassiddur ceremony.

Melnick After School Enrichment Program (MAP)

This fund was created by Amy Melnick Scharf and Jeffrey Scharf in memory of Amy’s parents Jack and Marcia Melnick. Donations to the fund support the Science Club, Math Olympiad, and an after-school enrichment activity program for students in grades 3-5.

The Miriam G. Mendelson Friendship Fund

This fund was created by Debra and Paul Mendelson in memory of Paul’s mother Miriam Mendelson.  Donations to this fund support programs and special events designed to enhance our children’s relationships with each other and with their parents and siblings.  Special programs will be offered by grade and by gender to allow an opportunity to work and play together while learning about caring and respect.
