Summer Reading List: 2012-13

Beginning with rising first graders, Gesher students have required summer reading. Summer reading books are used for class reading and writing assignments at the beginning of the year. Students read the grade-level selections independently (or they may read with a parent or listen to the book on tape if they require additional support). All students in third grade and higher are expected to own copies of the summer reading for the grade which they will be entering in the fall. They should bring the books to school for assignments come September.

Consider this: There is no need to buy new books. Consistent with our sustainability values please consider reusing, borrowing or purchasing used copies of the books. Amazon and Borders on-line sites make this very easy, giving you a range of choices of providers and book style. Even with postage, prices are generally less than purchasing a new book. Used copies can also be purchased at the annual Gesher second-hand book sale.
