We seek faculty members that are creative, energetic and willing to work collaboratively with other educators on the Gesher
team. We are a warm but rigorous K-8 community school dedicated to nurturing individual excellence. Superior teachers,
excellent General and Jewish studies, a loving environment, and individualized instruction are hallmarks of Gesher JDS. We
are located on a large wooded campus in Fairfax, VA. Students receive a firm foundation in reading skills, writing, math,
science, and social studies from a dedicated and caring faculty. The curriculum is based on hands-on learning, which
emphasizes activities to teach the importance of exploring and experimenting.
Position Purpose: Provide healthy, nurturing environment for children ages 3.5-5.5. Assist Lead Teachers in implementing
learning activities, provide support as needed for students. Maintain high standards for outstanding care, partnering
respectfully with parents as well as colleagues.

Essential Functions:
● Ensures the safety and well being of each child by responding to their emotional, social, and physical needs as well
as their educational needs
● Utilizes developmentally appropriate practice and best practice methods at all times
● Provides a variety of materials and resources for students to explore, manipulate and use, both in learning activities
and imaginative play
● Is warm and nurturing with children, and is a positive role model
● Is customer service orientated and professional; provides excellent customer service according to the standards of
Gesher Jewish Day School
● Appropriately supervises children while keeping them safe at all times
● Helps facilitate daily activities that are developmentally appropriate for preschoolers
● Creates and maintains an environment that is clean, organized, and safe for all children
● Establishes a professional level of rapport with each family in order to provide quality care and friendly service
● Assists the Lead Teacher in implementing curriculum and planning daily activities that are developmentally
appropriate for young children
● Communicates with the Lead Teacher regarding all aspects of the children’s care as well as classroom management

General Requirements:
● Must demonstrate and enthusiastically support the School’s mission
● Must be willing to perform in a manner that reflects positively on Gesher JDS
● Must have the ability and willingness to communicate well, work collaboratively, and deal effectively with all school
personnel and school families, as well as with the larger business and educational community
● Be at least 18 years of age
● Have a high school degree or equivalent education
● Have at least 1 year of experience working with children and/or a certificate in early childhood
education or currently working towards the completion of one
● Possess a strong work ethic, be punctual, and have minimal absences
● Have an awareness of the unique needs of young children and have appropriate expectations of their abilities
● Be able to kneel, bend, squat, lift, push, pull, and carry children up to 70lbs
● Have dependable transportation
