Frequently Asked Questions

This FAQ covers the key details of the Community Campaign, including why we are launching it, what it supports, and how families and community members can participate.

What is the Community Campaign?
The Community Campaign is a multi-year investment in Gesher Jewish Day School’s campus, programs, and long-term financial strength. It supports critical improvements to our physical space while ensuring Gesher remains strong, stable, and accessible for future generations.

Why is this campaign happening now?
Gesher has grown and evolved, and our campus needs to keep pace. Strategic investments now allow us to enhance learning spaces, strengthen community gathering areas, and reduce future financial pressure rather than deferring costs and limiting opportunity later.

How does this campaign support Gesher’s mission?
Our mission depends on more than excellent teaching. It requires spaces that foster collaboration, Jewish community, outdoor learning, and innovation. This campaign ensures our physical environment fully supports the education we promise our students and families.

What projects are included in the Community Campaign?
The campaign supports several interconnected projects designed to improve how students learn and how our community gathers:

Amphitheater and Outdoor Learning Areas

Purpose-built outdoor classrooms that support experiential learning, performances, assemblies, and interdisciplinary instruction across grade levels.

STEAM and Program Enhancements

Improved spaces and infrastructure to support science, technology, engineering, arts, and math learning in ways that reflect how students learn today.

Greenhouse and Environmental Learning

A hands-on learning environment where students engage with science, sustainability, and Jewish values related to stewardship of the earth.

Pavilion and Gathering Spaces

A central hub for community life with flexible, covered space for school-wide programs, celebrations, family events, and outdoor learning.

How were these projects chosen?
These projects emerged from years of observation, planning, and community input. They address consistent space limitations and align with Gesher’s educational priorities rather than adding facilities that would be underused or disconnected from daily school life.

Will all projects happen at once?
Projects will be phased thoughtfully to minimize disruption and ensure responsible use of funds. Campaign progress will determine timing, but the vision is cohesive and long-term.

Why does participation matter, regardless of gift size?
The strength of this campaign is community-wide participation. Leadership gifts are essential, but broad support demonstrates shared commitment and helps inspire others to give.

What happens if the community does not step up?
Without philanthropic investment, improvements are delayed, costs increase over time, and opportunities for students and families are constrained. The campaign allows Gesher to move forward thoughtfully rather than reactively.

How does this campaign benefit current and future families?
Current students benefit from improved spaces immediately. Future students inherit a campus and community that are prepared, resilient, and mission-aligned.

Do I have to give everything at once?
No. Most gifts are made as multi-year pledges, allowing families to make a meaningful commitment over time.

What giving options are available?
You may:
– Make a multi-year pledge
– Buy a brick for permanent recognition
– Give through donor-advised funds or other similar programs
Our team is happy to discuss flexible options.

Is my gift tax-deductible?
Yes. Gesher Jewish Day School is a nonprofit organization, and gifts are tax-deductible as allowed by law.

How will donors be kept informed?
The school will provide updates on campaign progress and completed projects so donors can see the impact of their generosity.
